We want to make things as simple as possible for you when choosing the most appropriate care for you or your loved one. So, we have compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions with regards to caring for the elderly; accessing care and receiving home care services.

  • What is Reliance Care Services Limited?

Reliance Care Services Limited is a privately owned company providing Domiciliary Care to individuals still living in their own homes, who require care and support or any activity which allows them to maintain a good quality of life by promoting their well-being and independence. We have a team of qualified, skilled and well experienced and caring individuals from different backgrounds and ethnicity to provide high-quality person-centred service to individuals using our service.

  • Is there a minimum number of hours per week?

The answer is simple. You can have a care worker for as long as you need one. Our calls are from as little as 30 minutes to 24 hours a day, 7 times a week, and we work 365 days of the year. Whether it is an occasional event or daily & ongoing assistance, we always try to be flexible and accommodating to the needs of our service users.

  • Is there a charge for assessment or consultation?

The answer is NO. We offer a free (no obligation) visit to assess your needs. It is part of our duty to conduct a free consultation or visit to every service user that asks for assessment and we are more than happy to give our time for this. During the assessment, we take the time to listen to the service user’s needs and aspirations and build the care plan around those needs.

  • What are the responsibilities that Care Workers do?

Basically, our care workers can do almost everything that we usually do ourselves at home.   Your care worker can do the usual household tasks including cooking and shopping. We can help with all your personal care, including bathing and showering, dressing and prompting & also checking your medication is being taken correctly, we offer stoma and catheter care as well as pad changes. Our care staff can prepare a meal using fresh foods to suit your individual dietary needs, as well as reheating “ready meals” if necessary.   We can take you out and about to town or garden centre, coffee shop or even the pub for lunch. We can assist in looking after pets and we can do a little light gardening such as watering plants. We offer you companionship and conversation and keep you company. We can accompany you on outings or holidays. We also extend our assistance during outdoor checkups or chaperoning you to banks and other establishments.   If your needs are more complex, we work with your doctor or district nurse and all other health care professionals to help with your treatment and potential rehabilitation. We are highly-trained in palliative care and can assist with all end of life care packages.

  • Is there any limit to what care workers can do?

Simple answer is, YES. There are certain tasks that our care taff may not be able to do. Care workers may not do any heavy cleaning nor anything which involves climbing ladders or furniture. They may not be asked to undertake heavy tasks in the garden or elsewhere. Care workers may not be asked to do anything which could endanger their health or safety or is considered immoral.
